Kudos to Team Fitness

Kudos to Team Fitness

Keeping physically active is an important aspect for me to manage symptoms of the disease I am challenged with every day. A key aspect of that activity over the last five years has been working with the trainers at Team Fitness.
Being a regular at Team Fitness has supported my personal efforts to remain healthy, to continue bicycle touring in different parts of the world and maintaining my overall fitness against the challenges of my disease. The trainers and the Team Fitness culture focus on my fitness goals and provides a program that continuously moves me in that direction. Every session is a new experience as the routine is always changing which means I don't have to think about new exercises and am never bored. Personal, one-on-one sessions provide me with the commitment to attend, even on those days when I have those thoughts of just going home. Building relationships with the trainers allows them to understand my personal physical challenges; using their training and experience they ensure that I am doing the exercises correctly or make adjustments to accommodate me while still making me work hard.
To some it may seem expensive to have a personal trainer when you can "do it" yourself. I value my hard earned money and realize the value to my overall health from being a regular at Team Fitness. I am worth it.
Rosanne Queen

Over 10 years ago I met Rosanne Queen through her husband David back when I was working at John Braithwaite Community Center. He had asked me to their home to show his wife Rosanne a program that might help her improve her strength and range of motion. Rosanne has Scleroderma and is challenged with various symptoms. Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease of the connective tissue. There is no known cure but with recent strides in research there are more options for management of some symptoms. Forward a couple of years and Rosanne began coming into Team Fitness to train. Her goal was to get stronger for the overseas touring trip on a tandem bike she and David were embarking on. Now over a span of 5 years I have watched this woman consistently show up and train hard no matter what she was going through.

Thanks for your commitment Rosanne!

Along with their busy work and training schedule this dynamo couple created The Scleroderma Ride for Research held every June to increase awareness and raise much needed funds for research.

This past ride in June was a huge success, Rosanne and David Queen (shown center)  presented a donation of $52,285.00 to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation – Scleroderma Clinic
