Team Fitness was the kick-start I needed for a permanent change in life

Two-time cancer survivor, Michael Foulston decided three months ago to commit to getting in the best shape he could before his wedding. To achieve his goal he knew he needed the right program and that is when he found Team Fitness.

“It was six months before my wedding – the right timeframe in which to achieve my goals” Michael said. He committed to the “90-Days to a New You” TF360 Gold Pack bundle – a program designed to retrain your body to build muscle and burn fat efficiently.

Our bundling of the TF meal plan with personal training has helped hundreds of our clients reach and maintain their goals.
“Team Fitness offered the right mix of support, from personal training to dedicated meal plans,” Michael explained. Designed to produce a minimum two-pound weight loss and muscle gain each week, the program addresses obesity and supports the goals of sports enthusiasts, fitness competitors and general health and fitness clients alike.

By the end of 90 days, Michael replaced eight per cent of his body fat with lean mass. Overall, Michael lost 30 inches and 31 pounds in just 90 days!

“My goal was to improve my health and fitness and I can truly say I’ve achieved that result. Overall, I’m happier with my appearance, my endurance and my knowledge of what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle,” he said. “Team Fitness was the beginning of a whole new lifestyle and I’m looking forward to seeing what new challenges the trainers have planned for me,” Michael said.

Most importantly, Michael says he doesn’t feel like he’s “just waiting for life to happen” and is being more proactive about his fitness and that’s becoming apparent in every other aspect of his life.
“Team Fitness was the kick-start I needed for a permanent change in life. I would happily recommend them to anyone looking to improve their health and fitness and who needs a little motivation and support to stay on track. ”

Team Fitness takes pride in giving individual support to its clients in programs designed for all fitness levels and ages. For a free assessment and more info, call 604-990-3476 or visit online at: www.teamfitness.ca

Kudos to Team Fitness

Kudos to Team Fitness

Keeping physically active is an important aspect for me to manage symptoms of the disease I am challenged with every day. A key aspect of that activity over the last five years has been working with the trainers at Team Fitness.
Being a regular at Team Fitness has supported my personal efforts to remain healthy, to continue bicycle touring in different parts of the world and maintaining my overall fitness against the challenges of my disease. The trainers and the Team Fitness culture focus on my fitness goals and provides a program that continuously moves me in that direction. Every session is a new experience as the routine is always changing which means I don't have to think about new exercises and am never bored. Personal, one-on-one sessions provide me with the commitment to attend, even on those days when I have those thoughts of just going home. Building relationships with the trainers allows them to understand my personal physical challenges; using their training and experience they ensure that I am doing the exercises correctly or make adjustments to accommodate me while still making me work hard.
To some it may seem expensive to have a personal trainer when you can "do it" yourself. I value my hard earned money and realize the value to my overall health from being a regular at Team Fitness. I am worth it.
Rosanne Queen

Over 10 years ago I met Rosanne Queen through her husband David back when I was working at John Braithwaite Community Center. He had asked me to their home to show his wife Rosanne a program that might help her improve her strength and range of motion. Rosanne has Scleroderma and is challenged with various symptoms. Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease of the connective tissue. There is no known cure but with recent strides in research there are more options for management of some symptoms. Forward a couple of years and Rosanne began coming into Team Fitness to train. Her goal was to get stronger for the overseas touring trip on a tandem bike she and David were embarking on. Now over a span of 5 years I have watched this woman consistently show up and train hard no matter what she was going through.

Thanks for your commitment Rosanne!

Deneen

Along with their busy work and training schedule this dynamo couple created The Scleroderma Ride for Research held every June to increase awareness and raise much needed funds for research.

This past ride in June was a huge success, Rosanne and David Queen (shown center)  presented a donation of $52,285.00 to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation – Scleroderma Clinic

Staying Fit During Cancer

Living with cancers, such as mesothelioma or lung cancer, can be a very difficult and hard process that many people need all help and support they can get, to really help them through this tough time in there lives. Being strong and positive is one of the best ways to survive and one of the best ways to stay strong and healthy during cancer, is to stay fit. The benefits of fitness and helping to treat and live with cancer have been noted by a wide variety of sources.

For example, The Cancer Treatment Centers of America has stated, "Exercise-even minimal physical exertion-increases heart rate and muscle flexion, while boosting your body's tolerance to conventional bone care treatments such as chemotherapy." They are speaking specifically of bone cancer but this benefit should be available to all patients that are suffering from cancer.

Another major benefit is that it increases your health and helps you live longer and stronger. Obesity has been linked to increased risk of cancer, cancer death and recurrence after treatment. Staying fit helps keep you thinner, stronger and healthier. This helps increase your generalized life span after you have beat cancer.

A healthier body is more likely to be able to eliminate a recurrence of your cancer. Dr. Kerry Courneya of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, states , "Several recent studies suggest that higher levels of physical activity are associated with a reduced risk of the cancer coming back, and a longer survival after a cancer diagnosis."

Improved mental health is another link to increased fitness and cancer. People who exercise during cancer are taking control of their lives and eliminating the demand cancer places on the mind. Exercise endorphins will also help increase their mood, boost their self confidence and help reduce fatigue. Fatigue can make a person feel weak so eliminating this as much as possible can help a cancer patient feel stronger and happier.

These benefits can begin as quickly as 8 to 12 weeks after you begin exercising. A study done by doctor Matthew Buman of Standford University found that patients that included vitality boosting exercises into their life during treatment and increased fitness, vitality, perceived stress and fatigue. They found that sustaining this activity preserved the improvements for the entire length of the year based study.

Here at Team Fitness, training with Cancer patients is nothing new to our trainers. It is our passion and drive for the health of others, that gives us the energy, dedication and commitment to help our clients improve their health and to change their lives for the better.

Whatever we do, our clients health is our number one priority. We also believe the full Team Fitness spectrum approach ensures the best and complete personal training package for everyone.

Feel better, Look better, live better

Fitness during your treatments may seem difficult to start, due your pain and stress. Please talk to your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Get Motivated in March at Team Fitness! Are you still looking to lose weight?

Now is the time!
Try our
award winning 90 day challenge!

What is the TF 90 Day Challenge?

The Team Fitness 90 day challenge is a specialized program designed to retrain you and your body to burn fat more efficiently. It is an educational program that helps you understand how your body works and gives you state of the art tools and support tools to make that change happen.

We are not simply a diet. You could lose 50 pounds today by cutting off your or arm or your leg, but that would be about as bad a choice as going on a highly restrictive diet that you can’t maintain for a lifetime. Healthy people eat every day. They enjoy the foods they eat and their bodies and pallets are satisfied. Just as you can’t put water in the tank of your car and expect it to run the way you want, there are foods that you need to reduce in order for your body to become a fat burning machine.

Instead of telling you what to eat and not to eat, the 90 day challenge program explains “why” to replace certain foods with ones that create the metabolic change everyone wants. Be assured, we are not going to tell you that you have to be a vegetarian. But you need to understand how your body reacts to certain foods and take control and train your body to work for you and not against you. The human body is a miracle, what you do with it is up to you.

Get educated and take our challenge today!
